Commodore’s Message for January 2026

I hope all our members, family and friends receive this in good spirits.  As challenging as 2025 was for me on a personal level, I look forward to a better, healthier and more fruitful (when it comes to catching fish) 2026.

I’d like to give a big THANK YOU!!! to the Board of Directors and all the Members who helped make 2025 a successful year for the Washington Outboard Club (WOC).  Without your help we could not have accomplished all that we did. Here are some 2025 highlights and 2026 goals for this year.

2025 Highlights

Installed a new gate entrance system that allows Club members to enter the ramp area with just a swipe of a card.  This new system also allows the Board the opportunity to monitor entrance and exit of all members by identifying their key card.

Hosted a family camping event at Lake Almanor.

Organized two very successful striper derbys and Angler of the Year dinner.

Recruited Board Member Assistants to help with the duties of the Board.

Installed water and electricity to the dock and added a safety light so members can actually see at night.

Painted the dock poles to make them more visible to our members.

2026 Projects

  • Develop and introduce a new WOC Website that allows members and non-members to interact with the Club.  The website will allow members to pay their annual dues online, volunteer for upcoming events to meet their annual requirements, apply for membership and have access to a “live” wait list.
  • Participated in the International Sportman’s Expo (ISE) show by providing the Department of Fish and Wildlife with volunteers to assist in their kid’s fishing booth.
  • Host a Spring Swap Meet and luncheon.
  • Repair the gang plank to the dock.  This will be constructed by members and volunteers.
  • Continue to work with the Department of Fish and Wildlife on various events.
  • Continue to develop a working team of volunteers to assist with special projects.
  • Continue to improve communications with all WOC members.
